Better late than never! Reviews from last month's Indietracks emphasize the band's kinetic properties. Milky Wimpshake were the model of "startling efficiency" , "energy-fueled", "blistering" through their set. A Layer of Chips sweetly imagines the band as arena gods. Similarly enthused is a Fog of Ideas, who declares the band, in the best possible way, very, very reliable. Say the locals: hidden gem, terrible name.

There's also a few seconds of a, well, blistering Fuck the Rules in a dizzying and very fine retrospective.

Speaking of (supposedly) bad band names, interviews in a recent rerelease of Bus Route to Your Heart and in the latest Scared to Dance zine reveal the band's first name (Shoe Polish) and shed light on living with the name they chose. Dialogue from the band, circa the 1990s: Christine: "Some people ask us what the band's called and I end up going red." Grant: "You always end up having to say it twice." Christine: "And everyone thinks it's rude." Pete: "Rude?"

The Bus Route CD is out along with a fabulous CD booklet from Recycled Bird. There is also Before Australia, a rarities discs, which includes five Wimpshake songs never released on CD before. Each booklet has entertaining new liner notes and old reviews/interviews, including a pre-Clinton-impeachment printout from this site. The rarities disk has sold out but is being restocked. Rare fact about Christine, at least as of ten years ago: "She likes football and Jack Daniels." Oh, and there's a MILKY WIMPSHAKE T-SHIRT. Happy Summer!
