Broken Again

I need more than just a cheque card to see me through
I need love too, I need you
I need more than food to eat
and shelter over my head
I need love too, I need you

I need more than my record collection
Without emotion, songs are just music
I need love too, I need you
I ‘ve got time for political theory
for philosophical thought
but also I need love too, I need you

Permit me to say these word of romance
if slightly outdated in this modern age

I can keep a stiff upper lip
I learned to when I was young
but I don’t want to, I don’t want to

I can do meaningless small talk
I can blend into a crowd
I don’t want to, I don’t need to

I can survive on reading books
and going to see films
I don’t want to, I’ve other things to do

I can watch daytime TV
and sleep for half the day
but I’d rather walk down the street
with people staring at me

And something about the way that you hang you head
appeals to me more than I think I should admit
and if I speak in words of romance
is it slightly outdated in this postmodern age?

I’ve got no money but at least I’ve got love
I’ve got no money but at least I’ve got love
I’ve got no money but at least I’ve got love
I’ve got £1.50, but at least I’ve got love
